The innovative Purge & Trap Evolution 2 by EST Analytical, designed based on laboratory requirements, complies with US EPA guidelines and guarantees high productivity, stability and reliability.
Improved humidity stability and control thanks to:
-
ARID technology for humidity control
- Optimized sample path with 8-port sampling valve
- Moisture Reduction Trap (MORT)
- Desorb Pressure Control (DPC) (patented)
- Desorb Flow Control (DFC) (patented).
Water removal is a rather sensitive problem for every operator especially in the case in which the sample preparation system is interfaced to a mass spectrometry detector. The solution adopted by Evolution 2 is to remove the extracted water during the purge phase.
To achieve this result, an optimized sample path and an eight-port sampling valve are used.
This choice has two fundamental advantages:
-
Being able to connect the transfer line directly to the split/splitless injector, avoiding intermediate traps with a significant increase in peak shape, in particular those eluted immediately after the desorb phase, the so-called “gas” family
- Being able to size the water trap on a constant flow rate (between 35 and 45 ml/min), such as that used in the purge phase and not on extremely variable flow rates: from 10 to 200 ml/min, such as those used on splitting lines, an even more pressing problem given the ever-increasing use of hydrogen as a carrier gas.
Reduction of carry over and increased productivity thanks to:
-
Patented sample flow design
- Heating of the sparger during the bake phase
- Faster trap cooling times. The new design of the ventilation system reduces the trap cooling time by 40% compared to previous models.
The improved electronics and EPC control complete the technological innovations and make the Evolution 2 system, the Purge & Trap that allows the fastest analysis time, both when used alone and when interfaced with the Centurion automatic sampler.
